National Police Week | May 15 – 21, 2022
We could not let National Police Week pass without taking the time to honor and recognize the 70 civilian and sworn individuals who currently make up the Haines City Police Department.
National Police Week History
“In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. National Police Week is a collaboration of three law enforcement organizations: Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.); The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF); and The Fraternal Order of Police and its Auxiliary.”
