[ARCHIVED] Food Truck Marketplace Debuts Friday

Food Truck Marketplace will take place weekly at Art Alley in downtown Haines City.

Haines City’s downtown has steadily become more vibrant and that’s not changing anytime soon.

Beginning on Friday, Aug. 14, the Community Redevelopment Agency and Growers Commerce Center will be partnering to bring a weekly “Food Truck Marketplace” to Art Alley. Each week, there will be multiple food trucks that come to the area with a diverse array of food and drink.

“Over the last few years, our city has made significant strides when it comes to cultural arts and family-friendly fun,” said Jane Waters, CRA Project Manager. “This is going to be a boon for our downtown businesses and something we think our residents will look forward to week in and week out.”

The Food Truck Marketplace will be held weekly from Thursday through Sunday. Hours will vary by food truck, but food will be available from lunch time through the later parts of the evening. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, adhering to social distancing, wearing face coverings and other recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control will be strongly encouraged.

Art Alley was founded less than a year ago as an attraction with street and wall murals and other forms of art. Art Alley has cultural and historical significance as it is located behind Citrus Growers Commerce Bank at 501 E. Main St., which was built in the mid-1920s.

“It is our mission to keep Haines City moving forward as a modern, vibrant city while preserving our rich history,” City Manager Deric C. Feacher said. “Food Truck Marketplace is the latest of numerous quality-of-life endeavors to come to fruition in our city. We believe this weekly event and Art Alley as a whole will be staples in our community for years to come and places where lasting memories are made.”
