REPRESENTATIVE WOOD SUPPORTS IMPROVING GRANDPARENT VISITATION RIGHTS
TALLAHASSEE - Representative John Wood (R-Winter Haven) joined Senator Mike Fasano (R- New Port Richey) in filing legislation that would improve the ability of grandparents to maintain visitation with their grandchildren. House Bill 897 would allow a grandparent to file a petition with the court to allow reasonable visitation with a grandchild in those cases where the son or daughter of the grandparent is deceased and the grandparent had a relationship with the child before the death of the parent.
“Protecting family relationships is good public policy and grandparents play a vital role in nurturing and educating their grandchildren,” stated Representative Wood. “I am honored to join with Senator Fasano in sponsoring this improvement to grandparental visitation rights.”
