Pig Roast/ Political Rally

The Haines City-Northeast Polk County Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted Central Florida’s largest political rally, The Pig Roast™, on August 18th this year. The event was held in the Grand Ballroom at Grenelefe Golf & Tennis Resort. Hundreds of attendees enjoy a fabulous Barbecue Dinner with all the trimmings, a Political Rally and our famous Silent and Live Auctions.

Invitations were extended to all local, county, and state political office holders and all political candidates campaigning for office. Master of Ceremony, Sheriff Grady Judd introduced this year’s Candidates and Speakers. Among them were Candidate for U.S. Senator Candidate, Congresswoman Katherine Harris, and running for re-election to the US House of Representatives Congressman Adam Putnam, Gubernatorial Candidates were, Congressman Jim Davis, Senator Rod Smith and many other state and local candidates attended. The public were invited to come meet and greet national, statewide and local candidates running for office.

As people were listening to the candidate speeches, they were able to browse our celebrated Silent Auction with over 400 incredible items. The Silent Auction committee worked hard to secure a wide variety of auction items ranging from antiques and attraction tickets, to weekend getaways and hunting trips! Each person registered at the Silent Auction table and were assigned a number to place bids throughout the event. The highest bidder would take their winnings home at the end of the evening! It was a ton of fun and camaraderie for all.
