Education

The Polk County School Board maintains a helpful website at www.pcsb.k12.fl.us where current enrollment, staffing, calendars, zoning maps, and other information is easily accessed.

Area career centers, colleges and universities partner with local businesses to develop and provide job training programs, along with technical and vocational classes for our workforce.

Within an hour’s drive, residents can attend classes at the University of Central Florida in Orlando and University of South Florida (USF) in Lakeland and Tampa. USF recently selected a site 15 miles west of Haines City to build a new campus offering Applied Technology programs. Funding has been approved for the first buildings, with construction scheduled to be complete in Fall of 2009 fort an estimated 16,000 students.
